I’ve been thinking about getting a certificate in beauty school, so i can work as an esthetician for waxing, nails and makeup.
I’m just wondering how much this kind of job pays when you’re starting out? (i live in canada)
omg…honestly i think people dont even read the questions on here…i didnt say for hair …i dindt say hairdressing..i said aestitician work..nails..makeup..waxing…body wraps…spa stuff. not hair.

I want to go to school to be able to do work in salons like hair, nails, skin care, waxing, etc. Is it better to attend a normal college or a beauty school?

Is there a difference in qualifying for financial aide if you go to a beauty school?

Please no "go to a salon and ask them what they did" answers…if I wanted to go ask salon workers I would, why else do you think I ask online?

Becoming a licensed cosmetologist takes less time, but you also may receive less financial aid as well. It depends on your financial situation and also if you live with your parents.

I had to pay my way through beauty school when I lived at home with my Mom many years ago but you can get a job in a salon upon graduation. BUT….you will be like a starving artist at first for a while..if in the wrong place years…..and being as an apprentice in more upscale salons, you can be one for up to two years…

Getting a college degree can work if you know what you want to do. It’s preferable to earn a degree in a field that you like AND that you can find work in. Only pursue a liberal arts degree if you are going to continue on to be a teacher or lawyer, or writer, or actor, just examples.

If you don’t mind working on the deceased, going to school to do funeral cosmetology, that may be more profitable than regular cosmetology simply because there is more of a market for it.

I am starting a new buisness and need client record cards for Alternative Treatments such as Reiki, Aromatherapy, Reflexolgy etc. Though can only find one’s for Beauty Treatments such as waxing etc . Can anyone tell me where I can purchase some or know of any company that makes them up.

I think beauty brands does sell spray wax.

My brother likes to spend time dressed as women i dont have a problem with this and i am not interested in any negative comments so please dont bother.I would like to treat us both to a beauty treatment before christmas the whole works, waxing, facial, massage and finish the day with a makeover any ideas where we could go and they would treat him as well as me in the south of england would be best

i would imagine any where that is a professional salon would treat you and your brother to what ever treatments you wanted,,,,i work in a hairsalon attatched to a beauty spa, and know that on occasion we have had transexuals and cross dressers wanting treatment,,,,, not a problem,,, a professional salon should be just that!!!

We’ve tried waxing but my 15 year old wants to try bleaching. What do you think? And if yes, buy the stuff at the beauty supply ?

yes waxing hurts, but sometimes so does bleaching- it can burn your skin if you are not careful.(then you can end up with redness and even scabs) if you do use it make sure you do a patch test on your arm before you put it on your face. i used to use bleach(sally hanson and jolen brands), until i started reading about how all the chemicals in beauty products are toxic. some are hormone disrupters, some are carcinogens. now i actually use an electric razor(like the kind guys use) it is much less irritating.i know most women are afraid that the hair will grow back thicker, but i have not experienced that, and besides, even if it does, you are still going to be removing it somehow, right?the other thing i didn’t like about the bleach, is that it actually bleaches your skin, too-so your upper lip looks all white and the rest of your skin looks normal.also, when you bleach, you obviously aren’t removing the hair, and it is still visible, something that i did not like.

Im thinking about opening a beauty salon business that offers the following services.

*Individual eyelash extensions (they look so real and last for 6 weeks £45)
*Eyebrow shaping/ colouring
*Waxing
*UV Free Spray Tanning
*Nail Extensions
*Manicures and Pedicures
*Body Wraps
*Spray Tatoo
*Body Piercing

The question is though, I don’t know if ladies would be interested in coming to my salon.

Should I open my beauty Salon?

First of all lets address the eyelash extensions,have you ever had these? 45 Dollars is too cheap i charge 350.00 for 120 lashes 60 per eye. These services are great but need to be broader. People wil come to your salon,but there is alot to opening and maintaining a good business. My mom has a salon in beverly hills.She has had her business 23 years,she is extremely succesful.She has 6 people that rent booths from her that do different tasks ,colorin,perming,washing ,blowdrying,nails, esthetician,manicurist,just some examples of services they provide. After 23 years my mom has a great reputation which helps alot. You can make fabulous money,my mom makes close to 2 million a year.
